Using an Antique Lamp as a Tiki Torch

I can't wait to share with you my favorite craft to date... turning an old antique oil lamp into a stylish tiki torch. I find oil lamps at antique and thrift stores ALL the time. I have always thought they were neat but never knew what to do with them... until now.

Can you believe I snagged this gorgeous blue oil lamp at a thrift store for $3.00? Usually oil lamps come with a glass hurricane, mine didn't... maybe that is why it was so cheap? Lucky for me, it was perfect just the way it was.

Feel free to use my Amazon suggested links below: {I am an Amazon affiliate which means if you purchase anything from my lists, I will get a tiny portion back. I only include things I personally have purchased and love!!!}

Just carefully remove the lid. Mine only took a couple of turns and it came off easily. The lamp I found had the wick still with it but if you need one - tiki wicks are sold in most garden sections at almost any store and are only a couple of dollars.

I grabbed my tiki torch fluid at Wal-Mart for $9.00. I used about half of the liquid... I'll save the rest for later when it comes time to refill.

Just fill up the lamp about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way full. Just be careful when pouring.

Then screw the top of the lamp back on and let the wick drop into the liquid. Wait a couple minutes for the fluid to creep up the wick - you'll want every inch soaked since this is what you want to burn, even the very tippy top.

Then use a lighter to get it going, it should catch pretty quickly.

... and that's it! Your custom tiki torch is complete and will look gorgeous on any patio table. I know it's a little early but I think I might be in love.

This thing will help keep the mosquitos away... but now what do I use to take care of these icky june bugs? It's only April and they are already out!
