Healthy Green Smoothie
Earlier in the week I showed you one of my favorite juicing recipes, the apple, kale, celery, grapefruit Power Juice. I love juicing but love making green smoothies just as much. What's on the menu today? A spinach, banana and peanut butter green smoothie.
I know what you're thinking. IT'S GREEN. You know what I'm thinking? IT'S DELICIOUS! :) If you haven't tried a green smoothie yet let this be THE ONE to try. It is so tasty. Yes, it is green - but it is a full of a variety of vitamins and nutrients. Here is what you'll need: Unsweetened almond milk, plain nonfat greek yogurt, local honey, banana (preferably frozen), fresh spinach and Just Great Stuff (powdered peanut butter - PB2 is another brand). Have you heard of powdered peanut butter - it has 90% LESS FAT than regular peanut butter but with all the same great flavor.
First, add the greek yogurt and a greek yogurt container full of almond milk to the blender. Starting with the wet/liquid ingredients will make it is on the blender to combine everything.
Blend it up! Then add 2 tbsp of the powdered peanut butter... You can start with 1tbsp and taste it to see if you want to add another tbsp or not. 2 tbsp is only 45 calories. If you love peanut butter, add both tablespoons. :)
Blend, blend, blend.
Now add some lovely green spinach. I just grab two giant handfuls and toss it in.
Look at that bright green color. :) Keep blending...
Now add a frozen banana and a small squeeze of honey.
You can add more honey if you'd like it sweeter. Sometimes I leave the honey out altogether.
Next pour and enjoy!
If you like bananas and peanut butter you will love this. Sometimes I feel like I am getting a treat or "cheating" it is so good.
I always feel so good when I start my day out with a smoothie or a juice. I get the benefits of fruits and vegetables and the yogurt helps keep me full until my morning snack.
Have you tried this recipe yet? What do you think?
